Tesla Model S Diagnostic Report

In this example of Tesla Model S not charging, the vehicle arrived with multiple warning messages and complete refusal to accept a charge. The technician team carried out full fault-code scans which revealed BMS-F123, BMS-W090 and BMS-W123 codes. Detailed serial-data logging showed HV insulation below safe levels and the 12 V battery measured only ~5 V (unable to support system start). Further inspection found a blown 10-amp micro-fuse in the BMS circuit. After replacing the fuse, the fault persisted, prompting full pack removal. Ultimately the root cause was found to be a faulty Battery Monitoring System (BMS) circuit board inside the HV battery pack.

Tesla Model S Repairs

The repair phase involved removing the high-voltage battery pack, replacing the defective BMS board and reinstating full unit integrity. The battery pack was reinstalled, insulation tests and commissioning checks completed, and the vehicle’s BMS re-programmed to integrate with the rest of the system. Once recharged and verified, the vehicle entered “Ready” mode, and charging functionality was restored.

Resolution

Following the intervention, the Tesla Model S not charging fault was resolved. The vehicle accepted charge as expected, no fault codes returned, the system went back to normal operation, and the car was returned to the customer in full working order.
