PHEV Battery Repairs
If your PHEV has reduced electric range, charging faults, warning lights, or the hybrid system won’t engage, we can identify the root cause and provide a clear, evidence-led repair plan.
PHEV battery faults can be complex, we understand their complexity
PHEVs combine a high-voltage traction battery with charging hardware, cooling systems, and control modules that must all work together. When one part fails, symptoms can look like “battery failure” even when the underlying issue is elsewhere.
At LKQ Electriq, we prioritise repair over replacement to deliver a cost-effective, sustainable alternative that reduces waste and saves customers money.
Our repairs are carried out by IMI Level 4-qualified technicians, using specialist EV diagnostics and high-voltage procedures.

Common Symptoms
Reduced electric range / “Reduced Range” messages
If your EV-only range drops suddenly, is inconsistent, or the vehicle reports reduced range, the cause could be battery imbalance, sensor/monitoring faults, or a control issue affecting how the pack is used.
Charging problems (won’t charge, won’t fully charge, won’t hold charge)
Charging faults can come from the battery pack, charging control systems, isolation faults, or thermal management problems. We diagnose the system as a whole to avoid unnecessary parts replacement.
High-voltage warning lights / hybrid system fault warnings
Dashboard alerts and HV warning messages can indicate safety-related HV faults, isolation issues, contactor/control problems, or internal pack monitoring faults.
Hybrid system not engaging / won’t enter high-voltage mode
If the vehicle won’t go into “Ready”, won’t drive in EV mode, or the hybrid system becomes inoperative, we can diagnose the HV battery system and related control modules to restore correct hybrid operation.

Repair-first, evidence-led diagnosis
We use structured diagnostics to confirm what has failed and why, then recommend the most sensible route:
- Repair / component-level solution where appropriate
- Battery-only repair options (where applicable)
- Full replacement only when it is genuinely the most reliable solution
This approach is especially valuable on PHEVs where multiple systems can produce similar symptoms.
What's Included?

Specialist high-voltage diagnostics
We assess the battery system and associated high-voltage components to pinpoint the root cause, not just clear codes.

Clear findings + repair recommendation
You’ll get a practical summary of what’s wrong, what needs doing next, and what options are available (repair vs replace).

Repair-first solutions (where appropriate)
We prioritise repair routes that can reduce cost and avoid unnecessary pack replacement, while keeping safety and reliability as the priority.

Post-repair checks and verification
We verify correct system function after work is completed to minimise repeat faults and comebacks.
All work is backed by a 12-month warranty covering both parts and labour, giving you peace of mind and confidence in the quality of our service.
Very helpful at solving a major fault. Though a big job, it cost half of what it would have done at main dealer who would have replaced more than needed. Customer service very good.
