EV Battery Repairs

Specialist battery diagnostics and repair-first solutions for fully electric vehicles (BEVs)

EV battery problems don’t always mean “replace the whole pack”

The high-voltage traction battery is the most valuable part of a fully electric EV. When something goes wrong, many repair routes get pushed straight towards full pack replacement, but in many cases the fault can be isolated, accurately diagnosed, and repaired at a far lower cost.

We focus on:

  • Correct diagnosis first (so parts aren’t replaced unnecessarily)
  • Component-level thinking where safe/appropriate
  • Clear next steps and options (repair vs replace) based on evidence

Common Symptoms

Warning messages / reduced power

You may see battery or high-voltage system warnings, limp mode, or reduced performance. These symptoms can be caused by pack-level issues, internal sensing/monitoring faults, contactor problems, or related HV components.

Charging issues

Slow charging, failed charging sessions, the vehicle refusing to charge, or repeated charge errors can indicate a battery management issue, isolation fault, cooling-related problems, or other HV system faults.

Rapid range loss / inconsistent state of charge

If range drops sharply, the vehicle’s displayed state of charge behaves erratically, or the battery seems to drain faster than expected, it can point to imbalance, degradation indicators, or a control/measurement fault that needs specialist assessment.

Vehicle won’t drive / won’t “Ready”

If the vehicle won’t enter drive mode (or won’t become “Ready”), it can be linked to high-voltage interlock faults, isolation faults, HV battery safety systems, or supporting HV components.

What we do (and how we approach EV battery faults)

We take a structured approach to high-voltage diagnosis and repair planning:

  1. Confirm the customer complaint and symptoms
  2. Read faults and data (and interpret it correctly)
  3. Test and verify likely causes (rather than guessing)
  4. Provide options: repair-first where viable, replacement where necessary
  5. Validate the fix with post-repair checks and evidence

What's Included?

Specialist high-voltage diagnostics

A focused diagnostic process designed for EV high-voltage systems aimed at identifying the actual root cause of the fault, not just clearing codes.

Evidence-led fault finding & repair plan

We translate technical findings into clear outcomes: what’s failed, why it matters, what needs doing next, and what options are available.

Repair-first options (where appropriate)

Where safe and viable, we prioritise repair routes and targeted replacement of failed elements instead of defaulting to a complete battery pack replacement.

Post-repair verification

We complete system checks and verification steps to confirm correct operation after repairs (and to reduce repeat faults).

All work is backed by a 12-month warranty covering both parts and labour, giving you peace of mind and confidence in the quality of our service.

Very helpful at solving a major fault. Though a big job, it cost half of what it would have done at main dealer who would have replaced more than needed. Customer service very good.
