Ready to recharge your career with LKQ Electriq?

At LKQ Electriq, we’re on a mission to revolutionise the electric vehicle repair industry. We’re looking for talented technicians who are ready to make a difference.

Why Work With Us?

A Message from Chris Lennon, Business Operations Manager

Hi, I’m Chris.

Thanks for taking the time to explore this opportunity, we really appreciate it. Before you read more about the role, I wanted to share a bit about who we are, what we stand for, and why this is a genuinely exciting time to join LKQ Electriq.

If you’re a technician who thrives on technical challenges rather than repetitive servicing, you’re in the right place. At LKQ Electriq, we aren’t a traditional workshop. We don’t do MOTs, oil changes, or tyres. We operate a specialist Technical Centre dedicated to the internal repair of electric vehicle batteries and high-voltage systems.

What makes us different? We don’t just swap parts. We work hand-in-hand with our on-site R&D lab and utilise a dedicated Laser Room to develop and execute precision repair solutions that most of the industry hasn’t even seen yet.

Since joining forces with LKQ in 2025, we’ve combined this startup innovation with global scale resources. We are growing our team of specialists and we’re looking for people who want to move away from the grease and oil of the past and into the clean, high-tech future of EV repair.

We value your expertise and your time. That’s why we operate a Monday to Friday schedule with no weekends and no rotas. You get high-level technical work in a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

If you’re ready to trade the routine for the Technical Centre, I’d love to hear from you.

Chris Lennon Business Operations Manager

Purpose of the Role

As a Technician at our Technical Centre, you will be at the heart of our mission to lead the electric vehicle repair industry. You will not just be replacing parts. You will dismantle, diagnose, and repair high-voltage battery systems and power electronics at a component level.

Working alongside our R&D lab, you will help develop new ways to extend the life of electric vehicles. This is a role for someone who wants to move away from the traditional workshop environment and into a clean, forward-thinking technical facility.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Excellence

  • Perform intricate repairs on EV battery packs and high-voltage systems using specialist tools and our on-site Laser Room.

  • Collaborate with the R&D team to test and refine new repair methods.

  • Conduct deep-level diagnostics to find faults within cells and power electronics.

  • Provide feedback to help create internal repair manuals and technical guides.

Quality and Safety

  • Maintain the highest standards of safety within our high-voltage environment.

  • Ensure every repair meets our strict quality benchmarks for vehicle safety and performance.

  • Accurately document all work to ensure a clear history for our customers.

Team and Growth

  • Work as part of a supportive team that shares knowledge and solves problems together.

  • Take advantage of our mentoring programme to progress your career.

  • Work towards IMI Level 4 certification with full support from the business.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Technical Background: A solid foundation in vehicle repair, electrical engineering, or a similar technical field.

  • Analytical Mindset: A natural curiosity for how complex systems work and a passion for solving technical puzzles.

  • Safety Conscious: A disciplined approach to work, especially regarding high-voltage safety.

  • Adaptable: You enjoy an evolving environment where we are often developing brand new ways of working.

Desirable (Full training provided)

  • Existing experience with EV or Hybrid systems.

  • IMI Level 3 or 4 in Electric and Hybrid Vehicle System Repair.

  • Familiarity with high-level diagnostic software or precision measurement tools.

  • Experience in an automotive or technical centre environment.

The Benefits of Joining LKQ Electriq

  • Genuine Work-Life Balance: Monday to Friday role with no weekend rotas and no bank holiday shifts.

  • Competitive Salary: £31,000.00 to £38,000.00 per year, depending on experience.

  • Team Culture: Lunch is provided for the team every Friday afternoon.

  • Your Voice Matters: The opportunity to actively participate in and contribute to our weekly team meetings.

  • Annual Vehicle Perks: A free MOT for yourself and a half-price MOT for your spouse every year.
