Battery Repairs

High-voltage and hybrid battery diagnostics and repair-first solutions for EVs, plug-in hybrids, and 48V mild hybrids

If your vehicle has warning lights, reduced range, charging faults, or won’t enter “Ready”, we can help identify the root cause and provide a clear repair plan that prioritises repair over replacement wherever appropriate.

Battery faults don’t always mean battery replacement

Modern EV and hybrid platforms are built around multiple battery systems and supporting electronics (high-voltage traction battery, contactors, BMS, charging control, DC-DC, 12V/48V support). When something fails, symptoms often look like “battery failure” even when the underlying cause is elsewhere.

At LKQ Electriq we take an evidence-led approach:

  • Structured diagnostics first
  • Clear recommendations: repair vs replace, based on findings
  • Safety-first processes led by EV-qualified technicians

Common Symptoms

Warning lights / “Electrical system fault” / HV warnings

High-voltage system warnings can be triggered by battery pack faults, isolation issues, contactor faults, or connected HV components.

Reduced range / reduced performance

Sudden or progressive drops in range (EV or hybrid) can indicate imbalance, degradation indicators, or monitoring/control faults that require specialist assessment.

Charging problems

Slow charging, failed charging sessions, or the vehicle refusing to charge can be caused by battery faults, protection states, isolation problems, or thermal management issues.

Won’t start / won’t go “Ready” / hybrid system not engaging

If the vehicle won’t enter drive mode or hybrid/EV operation is disabled, the high-voltage battery system may be inhibited by a safety or control fault.

Our Battery Repair Services

BEV Battery Repairs

For fully electric vehicles (BEVs) with traction battery warnings, charging issues, or range/performance concerns. We diagnose pack-related faults and provide repair-first options where appropriate.

Porsche Cayenne HV Warning Light On

PHEV Battery Repairs

For plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) where electric range is reduced, charging faults appear, or the hybrid system won’t engage. PHEV systems can be complex, so we diagnose the full HV system to pinpoint the true root cause.

48V Battery Resets

For 48V mild-hybrid (MHEV) vehicles where the 48V network has been disabled due to undervoltage events, crash shutdowns, or post-repair protection states. We carry out safe de-energisation, correct reset/adaptation routines, and verification — not “reset and hope”.

General battery diagnostics

Not sure which system is at fault?

If you’re unsure on your battery problem, we can advise based on your symptoms and any warning messages/fault codes then direct you to the correct next step.

All work is backed by a 12-month warranty covering both parts and labour, giving you peace of mind and confidence in the quality of our service.

Very helpful at solving a major fault. Though a big job, itc cost half of what it would have done at main dealer who would have replaced more than needed. Customer service very good.
