Tesla Model S Diagnostic Report

In the examined case, the customer’s Tesla Model S presented with door handles on both front doors and the near-side rear door failing to eject. A full scan revealed fault codes GTW_W184_DFHNDMIA, GTW_W185_PFHNDMIA and GTW_W186_PRHNDMIA pointing to communication errors with the three door-control modules. Further wiring diagram review found that both front doors lacked power supply due to a missing fuse; investigation revealed the fuse had been removed because the doors were unintentionally opening while the vehicle was in “Ready” mode. Additional removal of door cards revealed the rear handle had wiring disconnected from the internal circuit board, apparently due to incorrect refit after a body wrap.

Tesla Model S Repairs

Repair work involved:
  • Replacing the missing fuse which restored power supply to the front-door handle modules
  • Removing door cards on the affected doors (both fronts and near-side rear), repairing/re-seating wiring to the handle circuit board
  • Adjusting the microswitches in the handles to correct configuration (for the front doors)
  • Verifying that all three handles now extended/ejected correctly and that related fault codes cleared

Resolution

After completing the work, the Tesla Model S door handle issue was resolved. All affected handles regained correct function, fault codes cleared, the doors opened normally again and the vehicle was returned to the customer with full operational reliability.
