  • All years

Common Failure Symptoms

  • Red flashing indicator on the vehicle’s charge socket while connected to a charger
  • Dashboard message “Vehicle Plug to Be Checked” appearing when attempting to charge
  • Despite using a known-good charger and cable, the vehicle refuses to accept charge. (In this case the charger and cable were verified as functioning.)
  • Diagnostics show unexpectedly high resistance in the charge socket wiring or socket itself (e.g., 1.5 MΩ) indicating a wiring or component fault rather than a software glitch

Renault Zoe Charging Fault Warning Message

Renault Zoe Diagnostic Report

The vehicle arrived with a Renault Zoe charging fault and a “Vehicle Plug to Be Checked” warning. Initial verification ruled out the charging cable and external charge point. A fault-code scan identified code P0069 (traction charge battery fault). Wiring continuity tests from charge socket pin 1 to PP (plug-in module) measured approx. 1.5 MΩ, which was far above expected. Further socket inspection revealed a thermal cut-out within the charge socket housing causing high resistance. A replacement charge socket unit was required.

Renault Zoe Repairs

Due to the identified fault in the charge socket (thermal cut-out triggered), the repair involved replacing the vehicle’s charge socket unit with a new OEM part. While a new socket was on back-order (~8 weeks), a customer-supplied cable was temporarily used to restore functionality. Once the charge socket unit was fitted, full testing of charge acceptance and system integrity was performed.

Resolution

After completing the repair, the Renault Zoe charging fault issue was resolved. The red flashing charge‐socket indicator cleared, the “Vehicle Plug to Be Checked” message disappeared, and the vehicle successfully accepted charge as normal. The vehicle was returned to the customer in full working order with charging restored.
“Pleasantly surprised by the EV knowledge, good communication before, during and after service. Great job!”
