Land Rover Range Rover DC-DC Converter Diagnostic Report
Initially, the vehicle arrived with a suspected mild-hybrid 48V system fault. We confirmed the 12V system was not being charged, then followed testing, software updates and live data checks.
Further investigation showed the DC-DC converter could produce output with an external 48V supply, but it was unable to support the 12V system correctly when operating in the vehicle.

Land Rover Range Rover DC-DC Converter Repair
Subsequently, additional testing confirmed the 48V battery was not the root cause, and the vehicle still failed to charge the 12V system correctly. With wiring checks and supporting tests completed, the repair focus returned to the DC-DC converter as the cause of the low-voltage charging failure.
- Completed diagnostic checks and MHEV test plans
- Updated relevant vehicle controllers and carried out reset procedures
- Fitted, programmed and validated a new DC-DC converter

Resolution
Following the DC-DC converter repair, the new unit restored correct 12V charging support and resolved the low-voltage electrical issues. The original 48V battery was refitted once testing confirmed it was not the root cause, avoiding an unnecessary replacement and cost to the customer. With charging performance validated and the repair confirmed, the vehicle was reassembled and prepared for collection.
- The new DC-DC converter restored correct 12V charging support
- The original 48V battery was refitted, avoiding unnecessary replacement
- No replacement 48V battery was required for the completed repair
- The vehicle was reassembled and made ready for collection
