Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Diagnostic Report
Vehicle was booked in after a rapid charge session was interrupted, followed by a 12V battery failure and then multiple high-voltage system faults. Dealer investigation indicated the HV battery cells were down or imbalanced, and further HV tests could not be completed due to repeated 12V battery drain. Our diagnostics confirmed HV battery imbalance centred on a specific module, with one cell showing a large mV delta despite overall SOH reported at 95%.
BMW iX2 Repairs
HV battery pack was removed for internal inspection and repair. During removal, all HV cables were found seized/fused to the battery pack, requiring removal of rear interior trim to access and route cables from the charge port and on-board charger through the floor to fully separate the pack. A replacement module was prepared, other modules were balanced, and the replacement module plus bus bars were installed with internal wiring looms secured.
- Removed HV battery pack; resolved seized/fused HV cable access
- Confirmed excessive voltage variation in module
- Balanced remaining modules to ~4.1V; installed replacement module 6 and refitted bus bars
- Refitted pack and reassembled interior; recharged A/C system
Resolution
Following the repair, the HV battery pack was refitted and the vehicle was reassembled, including all interior components required to access the seized HV cabling. A diagnostic and battery SOH test were completed, with reports issued to the relevant contact.
Following the repair:
- Faulty HV battery module replaced and pack reassembled securely
- Interior refit completed after HV cable access work
- A/C system recharged and post-repair diagnostic/SOH testing completed
