So you have a Tesla Tyre puncture and need to find out if we can repair it, despite having foam sound deadening. Not all Tesla tyres are fitted with sound deadening. The purpose of the sound deadening is to reduce the road noise by approximately 9 decibels. Therefore, the foam has no influence on the tyre handling, braking or durability. So the foam is solely designed to reduce noise.
In response to your question ‘can my Tesla tyre with foam sound deadening be puncture repaired?’ fortunately, the answer is yes. Your foam sound deadening Tesla tyre can be puncture repaired. However, this is only possible if the puncture is in the centre 3/4 of the tyre surface.
Whereas, if the puncture is outside this threshold, it is deemed an unsafe repair as it is too close to the tyre sidewall. As a result, we cannot puncture repair the tyre because that part of the tyre is under more load. To do the repair we have to drill a hole into the tyre, which as a result, would weaken the tyre structure when we repair it.
